Through immersion and re-narration, releasing or transcending our cycles of violence. Excavating the history of atrocity, even as we acknowledge its reality, by making history painting about the future. I tell the story of antiwar veterans and express resistance in paintings for and of architecture and record a prefiguration of peace.
My interior views depict ceilings like the Khai Dinh temple in Hue, Vietnam, or (in the welcome case) a Florentine Palazzo. I set up my studio with my wall paintings, hoping the viewer can export herself into the painting as I have in creating it. Always painting from life: perceiving a large scale space or sculpted maquette.
My mediums include oil on linen, distemper on linen (sometimes pieced), high and low-fire ceramics, and plaster models and molds.
